This is how to use AI to understand what a nutrition label is really saying.
Two drinks can show similar numbers until one bottle contains a single serving and the other contains two and a half. A large number on the front may refer to protein per bottle while the panel presents everything per serving.
Type the panel facts or capture only the labels. Do not add a diagnosis, medication list, or therapeutic goal. Ask AI to show the arithmetic and separate printed facts from any health interpretation.
The label-arithmetic prompt:
Compare two fictional drink labels. Bottle A is 16 ounces, one serving, with 180 calories and 12 grams of protein. Bottle B is 20 ounces, two servings, with 110 calories and 8 grams of protein per serving.
Show each bottle per serving, per container, and per 10 ounces. Display the arithmetic, preserve units, identify what the labels do not establish, and make no medical or “healthier” conclusion.
Swap in exact printed values from the current packages. The serving-container-unit normalization is the part that matters.

Put every number on the same basis
A useful table prevents one product’s per-serving number from being compared with another product’s full-container number. It should also keep ingredients, allergens, and personal suitability outside the arithmetic unless the actual labels and a qualified source address them.
- Transcribe: Copy serving size, container count, nutrient amount, and unit without silently correcting the label.
- Normalize: Show the multiplication or division used to create a common basis.
- Limit: State that the calculation does not establish quality, suitability, fullness, or a medical outcome.
Recheck the package in your hand
Labels and package sizes change. Confirm ingredients, allergens, serving information, and warnings on the exact current product. Personal dietary or medical decisions belong with a qualified professional.
AI can reveal what the label’s denominator is doing. It should not turn that arithmetic into a verdict about your body.
